Analysing the existing dynamic insulation technologies focusing on buildings’ renovation – A review

Abstract Towards the achievement of zero-emission buildings, conventional envelope solutions have started to become outdated. The concept Dynamic thermal insulation is an innovative approach, still under development, that attracts a continuously and fast growing scientific research interest, mainly due its perfect alignment with targets zero-carbon future. aim this study investigate variety such systems are capable adjust envelope’s resistance based on building’s needs. follows two-levelled categorization approach. Initially, classification focuses whether assembly switches or varies properties within range, whilst operating principle used for further categorization. investigation, categorized their adequacy as measure implementation existing buildings’ energy retrofit. This takes into consideration like operational control complexity, mechanical equipment requirements, construction simplicity, cost, etc. results reveal great potential technology indicate need investigation issues related sustainability in new buildings.
